Company intelligence / Profile preview
Xilas Medical (later known as Pinnacle Technologies) was a medical technology company focused on the prevention of diabetic foot ulcers and related complications. The company developed the TempStat, a specialized temperature-sensing mat that allowed patients to monitor their feet for early signs of inflammation by detecting temperature differentials. This proactive approach aimed to identify "hot spots" before they progressed to open ulcers, thereby reducing the incidence of amputations in diabetic populations. The company was acquired by Kinetic Concepts, Inc. (KCI) in 2008 to bolster its portfolio of wound care and prevention technologies.
