XOR Laboratories

XOR Laboratories (XOR-Labs Toronto Inc.) was a Canadian medical device and biotechnology company focused on revolutionizing organ transplantation through advanced ex vivo perfusion technology. Spun off from the University Health Network (UHN) and supported by Toronto Innovation Acceleration Partners (TIAP), the company developed a compact, portable Ex Vivo Lung Perfusion (EVLP) system designed to maintain, assess, and repair donor lungs outside the body. This dishwasher-sized device was based on the pioneering "Toronto Technique" developed at Toronto General Hospital, aiming to significantly increase the pool of transplantable organs by making EVLP more mobile and accessible. In 2021, XOR Laboratories was acquired by Traferox Technologies Inc., which continues to commercialize the technology under the TorEx and X°Port product lines. The platform also enables the delivery of regenerative therapies, such as gene and stem cell treatments, directly to donor organs prior to transplantation.
