Company intelligence / Profile preview
XXsys Technologies was a San Diego-based company that originally specialized in advanced composite materials for infrastructure seismic retrofitting. In 2002, the company pivoted into the life sciences sector through a reverse merger with Xcyte Therapies, subsequently adopting the Xcyte name. The company focused on developing "Xcellerated T Cells," a personalized cell therapy platform designed to activate and expand a patient's immune system to fight cancer. Its proprietary Xcellerate process used beads coated with antibodies to stimulate T-cells outside the body. Lead clinical programs targeted hematologic malignancies such as chronic lymphocytic leukemia and non-Hodgkin lymphoma. The company eventually merged with Cyclacel Pharmaceuticals in 2006, which integrated Xcyte's assets into its oncology portfolio.
