Yunnan Menghai Tea Factory

Yunnan Menghai Tea Factory is a prestigious Chinese tea producer and a foundational entity in the Pu-erh tea industry, best known for its flagship brand, Dayi (TAETEA). Established in 1940, the factory is historically significant for co-developing the modern ripening (wo dui) fermentation process in the 1970s, which standardized the production of ripe Pu-erh tea. While primarily a consumer goods company, it operates a dedicated Tea Research Institute that conducts biochemical and microbiological studies on tea fermentation and the health-promoting properties of tea polyphenols. The company was privatized in 2004 and now functions as the core manufacturing and research arm of the TAETEA Group. It maintains a dominant market share in the specialty tea sector and is recognized for its standardized tea recipes, such as the 7542 and 7572 blends.
