Company intelligence / Profile preview
Zavante Therapeutics was a private, late clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on anti-infective medicines for hospitalized patients with serious bacterial infections. Its lead and effectively sole disclosed program was CONTEPO (fosfomycin for injection), also known as ZTI-01 and later referred to as ZOLYD in some communications, an intravenous antibiotic developed for complicated urinary tract infections including acute pyelonephritis and other severe hospital-based infections. The company advanced the pivotal ZEUS Phase 2/3 study to support U.S. registration and positioned the asset as a potential treatment option for multidrug-resistant Gram-negative and Gram-positive pathogens. Zavante was acquired by Nabriva Therapeutics on July 24, 2018 in an all-stock transaction, after which the program continued under the acquirer and was later sold onward by Nabriva.
