Zebra Therapeutics

Zebra Biologics (formerly Zebra Therapeutics) was a biotechnology company focused on the discovery and development of functional therapeutic antibodies for complex and historically "undruggable" targets, such as G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) and ion channels. Co-founded by Nobel laureate Sydney Brenner and former Scripps Research President Richard Lerner, the company utilized its proprietary "Zebra" platform to select antibodies based on their biological function directly within mammalian cells. Its lead program, ZB-001, was a first-in-class agonist antibody targeting the parathyroid hormone receptor 1 (PTHR1) for the treatment of hypoparathyroidism. The company established a significant multi-target collaboration with Takeda Pharmaceuticals to apply its technology to challenging drug targets across various therapeutic areas.
