Company intelligence / Profile preview
Zecotek Photonics is a specialized photonics company that develops and licenses high-performance scintillation crystals, photo-detectors, and imaging modules primarily for the medical imaging industry. The company's flagship technology is the patented Lutetium Fine Silicate (LFS) crystal, which is designed to improve the resolution and scanning speed of Positron Emission Tomography (PET) scanners. In addition to medical imaging, Zecotek's technologies have applications in high-energy physics research, industrial inspection, and 3D display systems. The company also developed Micro-pixel Avalanche Photodiodes (MAPD) as a solid-state alternative to traditional photomultiplier tubes. Despite establishing partnerships with major manufacturers like Hamamatsu and NuCare, the company faced significant financial difficulties. Zecotek was eventually delisted from the TSX Venture Exchange in 2019 following a cease trade order.
