The LIFT implant has demonstrated significant improvement in pain and function for patients with moderate to severe patellofemoral cartilage degeneration. In a two-year European pilot study with 18 patients, there was high patient satisfaction, no progression to knee replacement, and no severe adverse events. The ongoing pivotal PELICAN trial will compare outcomes against tibial tubercle osteotomy at multiple US and European sites. The LIFT technology received FDA Breakthrough Device Designation in late 2023.
