Zycos was a private biotechnology company based in Lexington, Massachusetts focused on oncology and antiviral therapeutics. Its lead program, ZYC101a (amolimogene), was a DNA-based immunotherapy/vaccine designed to stimulate immune responses against human papillomavirus-associated disease, particularly cervical dysplasia/cervical intraepithelial neoplasia. The company also described broader capabilities in drug discovery, drug development, and drug delivery, including high-throughput proteomics and formulation technologies. In 2004, Zycos was acquired by MGI PHARMA for $50 million in cash, after which it became a wholly owned subsidiary and ceased operating as an independent company.
