Zymed Laboratories

Zymed Laboratories was a South San Francisco biotechnology company focused on the development, manufacture, and commercialization of immunochemical reagents for life science research and clinical diagnostics. Its portfolio included antibodies, pathology products, cancer and cell biology reagents, biomarkers, and related immunoassay products used in research and diagnostic workflows. The company was best known as an antibody manufacturer and supplier to the research and diagnostics markets rather than as a therapeutics developer. Zymed was acquired by Invitrogen in February 2005 for $60 million in cash, and its operations and product franchise were subsequently absorbed into Invitrogen and, later, Thermo Fisher Scientific through corporate combination.
