Ártico

Ártico is a fixed-dose combination of glucosamine sulfate (1500 mg) and bovine-derived chondroitin sulfate (1200 mg) developed by Eurofarma Laboratórios S.A. for the treatment of symptomatic knee osteoarthritis. As a symptomatic slow-acting drug for osteoarthritis (SYSADOA), it works by providing structural components for the extracellular matrix of joint cartilage. Specifically, it acts as a collagen stimulant and an inhibitor of leukocyte elastase (ELA2), an enzyme that contributes to cartilage breakdown. The drug is administered orally once daily as a sachet. Clinical evidence from a Phase III non-inferiority trial in Brazil demonstrated that Ártico is as effective as the reference product Condroflex in reducing pain and improving physical function in patients with Kellgren-Lawrence grade 2 or 3 knee osteoarthritis.
