Drug intelligence / Profile preview
α-FABP2 antibody (anti-fatty acid-binding protein 2 antibody) is a research-grade antibody designed to target and neutralize fatty acid-binding protein 2 (FABP2, also known as intestinal fatty acid-binding protein or I-FABP). In preclinical models of Crohn's disease and enteritis, treatment with α-FABP2 antibody has been shown to mitigate gut dysbiosis and alleviate intestinal inflammation. This therapeutic effect is achieved by blocking the interaction between host-derived FABP2 and commensal bacteria such as *Enterococcus faecalis*, which otherwise hijacks FABP2 via the pheromone-binding protein EF3041 to activate quorum-sensing pathways and promote bacterial proliferation.
