ICBII's **α-syn-SM** is a preclinical blood-brain barrier-penetrant SMART Molecule antibody mimic being developed for **Parkinson's disease** and potentially other synucleinopathies. The agent is designed to selectively bind **pathologic α-synuclein aggregates and Lewy body lesions** in the central nervous system, with the goal of neutralizing or promoting clearance of disease-associated protein species while overcoming the limited CNS exposure typical of conventional monoclonal antibodies. Reported preclinical data indicate brain penetration, binding to Parkinson's disease-related lesions in animal models, and dose-dependent reduction of pathogenic α-synuclein in vivo. Innovative California Biosciences International has also indicated work relevant to **multiple system atrophy**, including an orphan drug designation application filed with the FDA in 2017.
