AdaptVac's α-synuclein vaccine is a virus-like particle (VLP)-based active immunotherapy currently in research and pre-clinical development for the treatment of Parkinson's disease. The vaccine utilizes the company's proprietary capsid VLP (cVLP) technology to display either full-length α-synuclein or specific peptide fragments on the surface of a viral shell. This architecture is designed to induce a robust, polyclonal antibody response capable of recognizing and neutralizing various pathogenic forms of α-synuclein, including soluble oligomers and insoluble aggregates (Lewy bodies). By promoting the clearance of these toxic species and preventing their cell-to-cell transmission, the vaccine aims to slow or halt the neurodegenerative progression characteristic of Parkinson's disease and other synucleinopathies.
