This is a combination of two forms of vitamin E: **α-tocopheryl succinate** (an esterified, more stable analogue of α-tocopherol) and **α-tocopherol** (the primary natural form of vitamin E in the human body). Both are fat-soluble antioxidants, but α-tocopheryl succinate exhibits unique biological properties distinct from its parent compound. While α-tocopherol acts as a classic antioxidant protecting cell membranes from oxidative damage, α-tocopheryl succinate has demonstrated pro-apoptotic and anti-proliferative effects in cancer cells, with minimal toxicity to normal cells. The combination may be used for dietary supplementation or explored for adjunctive roles in cancer therapy due to potential synergistic cytotoxicity against malignant cells and protective effects on normal tissues[2][5][8]. Mechanistically, these compounds modulate redox status, induce apoptosis via mitochondrial pathways, regulate cell cycle proteins (such as p53), and may sensitize tumor cells to chemotherapeutic agents[4][5][6][7].
