Overview

αBCMA-CAR.CD38BiTE is an experimental armored CAR-T cell therapy designed for the treatment of multiple myeloma. It consists of T cells engineered to express a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) targeting B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA) and to simultaneously secrete a bispecific T-cell engager (BiTE) targeting CD38. This dual-targeting strategy aims to prevent tumor relapse caused by BCMA antigen escape and to deplete CD38-positive immunosuppressive cells (such as regulatory T cells and myeloid-derived suppressor cells) within the bone marrow niche, thereby enhancing the persistence and efficacy of the CAR-T cells. The therapy is being developed by researchers at the Huntsman Cancer Institute and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
