αCD70 (anti-CD70) refers to a class of monoclonal antibodies that target the CD70 molecule (also known as CD27 ligand), a member of the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) superfamily. CD70 is typically expressed on activated lymphocytes but is frequently overexpressed in various hematological malignancies, such as multiple myeloma and acute myeloid leukemia, as well as solid tumors like renal cell carcinoma. The interaction between CD70 and its receptor, CD27, facilitates tumor cell expansion, survival, and immune evasion. αCD70 antibodies function by blocking this signaling axis or by mediating immune-mediated tumor cell killing through mechanisms such as antibody-dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity (ADCC). Research indicates that targeting CD70 can inhibit the growth of malignant plasma cells and may be particularly effective in treating advanced or relapsed disease stages where CD70 expression is often elevated.
