αv integrin shRNA is an experimental RNA interference (RNAi) agent designed to specifically silence the expression of the αv integrin subunit (ITGAV). Delivered via lentiviral vectors in preclinical studies, this short hairpin RNA (shRNA) mediates the degradation of αv integrin mRNA, leading to a significant reduction in protein levels. In metastatic melanoma models, such as the A2058 cell line, knockdown of αv integrin has been shown to inhibit cell proliferation, disrupt adherent growth, and markedly reduce the migration and invasive capacity of tumor cells. This research tool is primarily used to elucidate the role of integrin-mediated cell-extracellular matrix (ECM) interactions in the metastatic cascade and to validate αv integrin as a therapeutic target in aggressive cancers.
