Overview
愈美甲麻敏糖浆 (Yu Mei Jia Ma Min Tang Jiang) is a multi-ingredient combination cough syrup developed and manufactured by Shenyang Dongxing Pharmaceutical Technology. The formulation contains four active ingredients: dextromethorphan hydrobromide, a centrally acting antitussive; guaifenesin, an expectorant; methylephedrine hydrochloride, a bronchodilator; and chlorpheniramine maleate, a first-generation antihistamine. This oral syrup is indicated for the symptomatic relief of coughs and respiratory symptoms associated with the common cold, bronchitis, and asthma. Dextromethorphan suppresses the cough reflex via sigma-1 receptor agonism and NMDA receptor antagonism, while guaifenesin facilitates the removal of mucus by reducing its viscosity. Methylephedrine acts as an adrenergic receptor agonist to relieve bronchospasm and airway congestion, and chlorpheniramine blocks H1 receptors to alleviate allergic symptoms such as sneezing and rhinorrhea. The product is approved and marketed in China as an over-the-counter (OTC) medication.
