Drug intelligence / Profile preview
세클원서방정375mg (Cecl-One MR) is a sustained-release oral formulation of cefaclor (375 mg), a second-generation cephalosporin antibiotic developed and marketed by Withus Pharmaceutical in South Korea. It is indicated for the treatment of various bacterial infections, including acute and chronic bronchitis, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, lower urinary tract infections, and skin and soft tissue infections caused by susceptible strains of pathogens such as *Streptococcus pneumoniae*, *Haemophilus influenzae*, and *Staphylococcus aureus*. As a β-lactam antibiotic, cefaclor exerts its bactericidal activity by binding to and inhibiting penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), which are essential enzymes involved in bacterial cell wall synthesis. This inhibition leads to cell wall weakening and subsequent bacterial lysis.
