Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Otiren F (오티렌F정) is a gastric-retentive floating tablet formulation of *Artemisia asiatica* 95% ethanol extract, developed by Daewon Pharm for the treatment of gastritis. Utilizing a floating drug delivery system (FDDS), the tablet is designed to remain buoyant in the gastric juice, thereby prolonging the residence time of the active ingredient in the stomach and enhancing its local cytoprotective effects. The active extract contains flavonoids such as eupatilin and jaceosidin, which exhibit anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, promoting the secretion of mucus and bicarbonate while inhibiting gastric acid-induced mucosal damage. It is approved in South Korea for the improvement of gastric mucosal lesions (erosion, hemorrhage, redness, edema) associated with acute and chronic gastritis.
