Its primary mechanism of action is inhibition of farnesyl pyrophosphate synthase—an enzyme critical in the mevalonate pathway—which disrupts osteoclast-mediated bone resorption. This compound has not been approved for medical use and remains experimental; it has no known clinical indications or completed clinical trials as of June 2025[2][7]. It may be studied as a research tool or specialty chemical.
