Overview

(17s)-17-(((dimethoxyphosphoryl)methoxy)carbonyl)-3β-hydroxy-28-norolean-12(13)-ene is a semisynthetic pentacyclic triterpenoid derivative of oleanolic acid. It features a dimethylphosphonate moiety attached via a methoxycarbonyl linker at the C17 position, a modification designed to improve the pharmacokinetic properties and biological activity of the parent triterpene. Research indicates that this compound possesses significant antiproliferative activity against melanoma cells, specifically the B164A5 line, where it induces apoptosis as evidenced by nuclear condensation. Unlike some cytotoxic agents, it does not appear to cause significant membrane damage (as measured by LDH release) or vascular toxicity in HET-CAM models, suggesting a targeted mechanism of action suitable for further oncological investigation.
