Drug intelligence / Profile preview
0.12%NF is an investigational, alcohol-free antiseptic mouthrinse co-developed by the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya and Dentaid. It is a reformulated version of the marketed Perio-Aid Treatment, containing a fixed-dose combination of 0.12% chlorhexidine digluconate and 0.05% cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC). The formulation is designed to inhibit de novo dental plaque formation and prevent gingivitis while minimizing common side effects associated with chlorhexidine use, such as tooth staining and taste disturbances. Chlorhexidine digluconate acts as a broad-spectrum antimicrobial agent that disrupts bacterial cell walls and membranes, while cetylpyridinium chloride provides an additive antiseptic effect. The efficacy and tolerability of 0.12%NF have been evaluated in randomized, triple-blind clinical trials using a 4-day non-brushing model.
