Drug intelligence / Profile preview
0839 is a preclinical tool compound, structurally and functionally characterized as an amylin analogue. It exhibits 95% sequence homology with cagrilintide (0833) and features an identical acylation sidechain. As an amylin and calcitonin receptor agonist, 0839 has demonstrated efficacy in reducing food intake, decreasing body weight primarily through fat mass reduction, and improving metabolic parameters in animal models. It also enhances the effects of semaglutide. Developed and made available by Novo Nordisk through its Compound Sharing program, 0839 facilitates mode-of-action studies in mice and rats, particularly when access to clinical development compounds like cagrilintide is restricted.
