Overview

1,3-dicaffeoylquinic acid is a natural polyphenolic compound and an isomer of cynarin, primarily found in plants such as artichoke (*Cynara scolymus*). In pharmacological research, it is frequently utilized as a potent activator of the PI3K/Akt/Nrf2 signaling pathway. By stimulating this pathway, it promotes the nuclear translocation of Nrf2, leading to the upregulation of antioxidant enzymes and providing protection against oxidative stress and ferroptosis. It has been studied for its potential cardioprotective, anti-inflammatory, and hepatoprotective properties, particularly in models of atherosclerosis and endothelial injury. While it is a bioactive component of various dietary supplements, it is also widely used as a research tool to investigate the role of antioxidant signaling in disease models.
