Overview

1-Androstenedione is a synthetic anabolic steroid and a metabolite of 1-testosterone. It acts as a prohormone, being converted in the body to more active androgens such as testosterone. Like other anabolic steroids, it is used with the intent to increase muscle mass, strength, and athletic performance. However, its efficacy for these purposes has not been conclusively demonstrated in scientific studies. In the United States, 1-androstenedione is regulated as a Schedule III controlled substance due to its potential for abuse and health risks associated with anabolic steroids[1]. It is primarily intended for research and forensic applications rather than medical use.
