Drug intelligence / Profile preview
1-dose PCV13 refers to a single-dose regimen of the 13-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV13), marketed under the brand name Prevnar 13. Developed by Pfizer, PCV13 contains capsular polysaccharide antigens from 13 serotypes of *Streptococcus pneumoniae* (1, 3, 4, 5, 6A, 6B, 7F, 9V, 14, 18C, 19A, 19F, and 23F) individually conjugated to a non-toxic diphtheria carrier protein (CRM197) to enhance immunogenicity. This single-dose regimen has been evaluated in a Phase 4 clinical trial sponsored by National Taiwan University Hospital to assess its safety and immunogenicity compared to a two-dose regimen in immunocompromised patients with multiple myeloma, who are at high risk for invasive pneumococcal disease.
