Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**1-Testosterone** is a synthetic anabolic–androgenic steroid (AAS) and a derivative of dihydrotestosterone (DHT). It differs from testosterone by having a double bond between the first and second carbon atoms in its A ring. This modification results in high androgenic and anabolic potency even without metabolic activation. 1-Testosterone binds selectively to the androgen receptor (AR), stimulating AR-dependent transactivation and promoting growth of androgen-sensitive tissues such as prostate, seminal vesicles, and muscle. Unlike testosterone propionate, it also increases liver weight. It has been used illicitly to enhance physical performance in athletes and racehorses. In the United States, it is regulated as a Schedule III controlled substance[1][2][3].
