Drug intelligence / Profile preview
1.4% sodium bicarbonate mouthwash solution is an oral rinse used to maintain oral hygiene and prevent complications such as oral mucositis, gingivorragia, and infections in patients with prolonged aplasia following intensive chemotherapy. The solution acts as a buffering agent to neutralize oral acidity and helps in the mechanical cleansing of the oral cavity. In a Phase 3 clinical trial conducted by the University Hospital, Angers, this mouthwash was used as the standard of care to compare the feasibility and safety of tooth brushing in patients with hematological malignancies who are at high risk for mucosal alterations.
