Overview

**10-hydroxy-2-decenoic acid** is a unique unsaturated fatty acid and the major lipid component of royal jelly, produced by honeybees. It is also known as queen bee acid. This compound exhibits a range of biological activities in vitro and in vivo, including anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antitumor, antiangiogenic, immunomodulatory, estrogen-like effects, neurogenic activity promoting neural stem cell differentiation, and inhibition of histone deacetylase activity. It has been shown to modulate cytokine production via NF-kB pathway inhibition and acts as an agonist at human TRPA1 and TRPV1 receptors. In animal models it accelerates gastric ulcer healing and increases collagen synthesis in skin fibroblasts[1][3][4][5].
