Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This combination represents a pediatric immunization regimen designed to protect infants and young children against a broad spectrum of bacterial and viral pathogens. The 10-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV10), typically GSK's Synflorix, provides protection against ten serotypes of *Streptococcus pneumoniae* (1, 4, 5, 6B, 7F, 9V, 14, 18C, 19F, and 23F) using a combination of carrier proteins including non-typeable *Haemophilus influenzae* Protein D. The DTPa-IPV-Hib vaccine is a pentavalent combination (such as Infanrix-IPV+Hib) that protects against diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (acellular), poliomyelitis (inactivated types 1, 2, and 3), and *Haemophilus influenzae* type b (Hib). These vaccines are often co-administered in a 2+1 or 3+1 schedule to simplify the vaccination process and ensure high coverage against invasive pneumococcal disease, meningitis, pneumonia, and other childhood infections.
