111In-DTPA-cG250 is a **radiolabeled chimeric monoclonal antibody** that combines the antibody cG250 (which targets the G250 antigen, also known as carbonic anhydrase IX, or CAIX, on renal cell carcinoma cells) with the radioisotope **Indium-111** chelated by DTPA. Its main mechanism is that the antibody localizes to cells expressing the G250 antigen, delivering the radioactive indium to the tumor for imaging via gamma camera (radioimmunoscintigraphy) and potentially for dosimetry ahead of radioimmunotherapy. The drug is designed to detect metastatic or primary clear cell renal cell carcinoma lesions in patients. The radiolabel **Indium-111** allows for better persistence in tumor cells, presumably due to intracellular retention after antibody internalization, providing superior imaging compared to non-residualizing isotopes like iodine-131. Development and clinical validation have focused on its use in patients with metastatic clear cell renal cell carcinoma[1].
