Drug intelligence / Profile preview
111In-exendin (Indium-111 labeled exendin) is a radiolabeled peptide-based diagnostic imaging agent that targets the glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor (GLP-1R). It is primarily used in single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) imaging to non-invasively visualize and quantify pancreatic beta-cell mass (BCM) and to localize insulin-producing neuroendocrine tumors, such as insulinomas, and congenital hyperinsulinism (CHI). The tracer consists of the GLP-1R agonist exendin (such as exendin-3 or exendin-4) conjugated to a chelator (like DTPA or DOTA) and radiolabeled with the gamma-emitting isotope indium-111 (111In). It has been developed and evaluated in clinical trials by academic institutions, including Radboud University Medical Center and University Hospital Basel.
