Overview

11C-SB207145 is a radiopharmaceutical used as a positron emission tomography (PET) tracer for imaging the serotonin 5-HT4 receptor in the brain. It consists of the high-affinity, selective 5-HT4 receptor antagonist SB207145 labeled with the positron-emitting isotope Carbon-11. This tracer allows for the non-invasive quantification of 5-HT4 receptor density and distribution in vivo, providing a critical tool for investigating the pathophysiology of various neuropsychiatric and neurodegenerative disorders. The ligand was originally developed by GlaxoSmithKline, while its application and clinical validation as a PET tracer have been significantly advanced by research institutions such as the Institut National de la Sante et de la Recherche Medicale (INSERM) and the University of Copenhagen. It is primarily utilized in clinical research to study conditions like Alzheimer's disease, major depressive disorder, and Parkinson's disease, where serotonergic dysfunction is implicated.
