It works as an APP (Beta amyloid A4 protein) inhibitor and is used with Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography (SPECT) imaging. The drug was initially developed to detect beta-amyloid protein deposition in subjects with Alzheimer's disease compared to healthy controls.
