125I-G250 is a radiolabeled monoclonal antibody consisting of the murine antibody G250 conjugated to the radioisotope iodine-125. G250 targets carbonic anhydrase IX (CAIX), a cell surface antigen highly expressed in clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC). The drug is primarily indicated for radioimmunodetection and radioimmunotherapy of renal cell carcinoma. The mechanism of action involves binding of the G250 antibody to CAIX on tumor cells, allowing specific delivery of the radioactive iodine-125 to the tumor. This results in emission of ionizing radiation locally at the cancer site, thereby enabling targeted imaging and potential cytotoxicity.
