**131I-CC49** is a radiolabeled murine monoclonal antibody therapy in which the monoclonal antibody CC49 is conjugated with radioactive iodine (iodine-131). The parent antibody, CC49, is a second-generation IgG that specifically targets tumor-associated glycoprotein 72 (TAG-72), an antigen highly expressed on various epithelial-derived cancers. By binding to TAG-72 on tumor cells, the radiolabeled antibody delivers cytotoxic beta and gamma radiation directly to malignant tissue, enabling both therapeutic and diagnostic applications. The drug has been investigated primarily for use in neoplasms such as gastrointestinal cancers and metastatic prostate cancer. Its main mechanism of action is targeted radioimmunotherapy—delivering localized radiation to tumors expressing TAG-72 while sparing most normal tissues[2][4][6][7].
