Overview

14-3-3 zeta siRNA is a small interfering RNA (siRNA) designed to silence the expression of the *YWHAZ* gene, which encodes the 14-3-3 zeta protein. 14-3-3 zeta is a member of a highly conserved family of molecular chaperones that regulate various cellular processes, including signal transduction, cell cycle progression, and apoptosis. In many cancers, including head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC), 14-3-3 zeta is overexpressed and correlates with poor prognosis and resistance to chemotherapy. By utilizing the RNA interference (RNAi) pathway, this siRNA mediates the degradation of 14-3-3 zeta mRNA, leading to reduced protein levels. Research has demonstrated that downregulation of 14-3-3 zeta sensitizes cancer cells to chemotherapeutic agents such as doxorubicin and cisplatin, inducing G2/M phase arrest and promoting apoptosis through the activation of caspase-3 and caspase-9.
