The 15-valent human papillomavirus recombinant vaccine is a prophylactic vaccine designed to prevent infections caused by 15 specific types of human papillomavirus (HPV), which are responsible for various cancers and other diseases. This vaccine utilizes recombinant technology to produce virus-like particles (VLPs) of the L1 capsid protein from each of the targeted HPV types. These VLPs are non-infectious but are highly immunogenic, stimulating the body's immune system to produce protective antibodies. The vaccine aims to provide broader protection than existing 9-valent HPV vaccines, covering 12 high-risk HPV types, 1 possibly carcinogenic type, and 2 low-risk types. Development efforts include versions produced using Hansenula polymorpha (by Bovax) and Escherichia coli (by Chengda Bio and Kangle Guard). It is intended to prevent cervical, vulvar, vaginal, perineal, perianal, penile, anal, oropharyngeal, and head-neck cancers, as well as precancerous lesions (CIN, VIN, VaIN, AIN) and genital warts caused by the included HPV types.
