Overview

177Lu-CC49 is a **radiolabeled monoclonal antibody therapy** consisting of the murine monoclonal antibody CC49 conjugated to the beta- and gamma-emitting radioisotope **Lutetium-177**. CC49 targets the tumor-associated glycoprotein antigen **TAG-72**, which is overexpressed on many epithelial-derived cancers, including ovarian cancer. When administered, the antibody binds to TAG-72-expressing tumor cells, delivering cytotoxic beta radiation from Lutetium-177 directly to the tumor, causing cellular damage and death with reduced effects on surrounding healthy tissue. 177Lu-CC49 has been investigated mainly for **chemotherapy-resistant ovarian cancer**, administered via intraperitoneal radioimmunotherapy, and is also under clinical studies for other solid tumors expressing TAG-72[2][4][6]. Development has been led by academic centers in collaboration with radiopharmaceutical research groups.
