177Lu-DOTATOC is a radiopharmaceutical and peptide receptor radionuclide therapy (PRRT) agent being developed by Excel Diagnostics and Nuclear Oncology Center (EDNOC) for the treatment of non-gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (non-GEP-NETs). It consists of the radionuclide lutetium-177 conjugated to DOTATOC (edotreotide), a somatostatin analog peptide. The drug targets the somatostatin receptor (SSTR), which is frequently overexpressed on the surface of neuroendocrine tumor cells. Upon binding to the receptor, the complex is internalized, allowing the lutetium-177 isotope to emit beta radiation that causes targeted DNA damage and cell death in the tumor. It is currently being investigated in a Phase II clinical trial for patients with SSTR-positive pulmonary neuroendocrine tumors, pheochromocytoma, paraganglioma, thymic neuroendocrine tumors, and neuroendocrine tumors of unknown primary.
