177Lu-EVG321 is a novel radiopharmaceutical therapy under development for the treatment of small cell lung cancer. It consists of a peptide ligand that targets the cholecystokinin 2 receptor (CCK2R), which is highly expressed on tumor cells in small cell lung cancer and potentially other solid tumors. The drug delivers lutetium-177, a beta-emitting radioisotope, directly to CCK2R-expressing tumor cells, enabling targeted ionizing radiation to ablate malignant tissue while sparing surrounding healthy tissue. This approach leverages the precision of radioligand therapy to improve outcomes in aggressive cancers with limited treatment options.
