Overview

177Lu-FC516 is an investigational radiopharmaceutical developed by FindCure Biosciences for the treatment of prostate cancer. It consists of the beta-emitting radioisotope Lutetium-177 (177Lu) conjugated to FC516, a targeting ligand that binds with high affinity to Prostate-Specific Membrane Antigen (PSMA). PSMA is a cell-surface protein that is significantly overexpressed in prostate cancer cells, particularly in metastatic and castration-resistant stages. Upon intravenous administration, the 177Lu-FC516 complex binds to PSMA-expressing tumor cells and is internalized. The localized emission of beta radiation from the 177Lu isotope induces DNA damage and subsequent apoptosis in the targeted cancer cells while minimizing exposure to surrounding healthy tissue. The drug is currently being evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials to determine its safety profile, radiation dosimetry, and preliminary therapeutic efficacy.
