177Lu-FC705 is a PSMA-targeted radiopharmaceutical developed by FutureChem Pharma for the treatment of prostate cancer. It consists of a small-molecule ligand that binds with high affinity to the prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA), which is overexpressed on the surface of most prostate cancer cells. The ligand is conjugated to the beta-emitting radioisotope Lutetium-177 (177Lu). Upon binding to PSMA-expressing cells, the compound is internalized, allowing the 177Lu to deliver localized ionizing radiation, leading to DNA damage and cell death in the tumor while minimizing exposure to healthy tissues. As of 2024, it is in Phase 3 clinical development in South Korea for metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC).
