**177Lu-oxine-lipiodol** is an investigational therapeutic radiopharmaceutical emulsion for transarterial treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma. It is prepared by chelating the beta-emitting radionuclide lutetium-177 with oxine, also called 8-hydroxyquinoline, and dispersing the resulting complex in lipiodol, an oily carrier that preferentially accumulates in hepatic tumors after arterial administration. Tumor-localized lutetium-177 delivers ionizing beta radiation that induces DNA damage and suppresses tumor growth. Early animal work reported liver localization but also radioactivity leakage with skeletal deposition, whereas a later preclinical xenograft study reported persistent tumor uptake and significant tumor-growth suppression. No marketed product, sponsor development code, or clinical-stage program was identified.
