Overview

177Lu-TBM-001 is a therapeutic radiopharmaceutical developed by the Affiliated Hospital of Southwest Medical University for the treatment of various bone diseases. It consists of the beta-emitting radioisotope Lutetium-177 conjugated to TBM-001, a bone-seeking ligand that targets hydroxyapatite in bone tissue. This targeted radionuclide therapy (TRT) approach is designed to deliver localized cytotoxic radiation to sites of high bone turnover or mineral density, such as those found in malignant bone metastases, primary and secondary bone tumors, bone tuberculosis, and osteomyelitis. By concentrating the radioactive payload at the site of the lesion, 177Lu-TBM-001 aims to maximize therapeutic efficacy while minimizing systemic radiation exposure. It is often utilized as part of a theranostic pair with its diagnostic counterpart, 68Ga-TBM-001, which is used for PET/CT imaging to identify suitable candidates for therapy.
