Drug intelligence / Profile preview
18-valent Meningococcal-Pneumococcal Combined Vaccine is a preclinical-stage conjugate combination vaccine being developed by Shandong Kunli Biopharmaceutical. The vaccine is designed to provide broad protection against both meningococcal disease, caused by *Neisseria meningitidis*, and pneumococcal disease, caused by *Streptococcus pneumoniae*. By combining 18 distinct serotypes into a single conjugate formulation, the vaccine aims to simplify immunization schedules while maintaining high immunogenicity through the chemical linkage of bacterial polysaccharides to carrier proteins. This approach is intended to elicit a robust T-cell dependent immune response, which is particularly effective in infants and young children who typically respond poorly to pure polysaccharide vaccines.
