Overview

1849-Fab is a Fab fragment of a monoclonal antibody (1849) directed against human tissue factor (TF). Tissue factor is a transmembrane glycoprotein that is highly expressed in various malignancies, particularly pancreatic cancer, where it contributes to tumor growth, angiogenesis, and metastasis. As a Fab fragment, 1849-Fab lacks the Fc region of the whole IgG, resulting in a smaller molecular size that facilitates faster renal clearance, more rapid tumor accumulation, and improved penetration into the tumor microenvironment. Preclinical studies have investigated 1849-Fab as a diagnostic imaging tool, demonstrating its ability to provide high-contrast signals for the early detection and localization of TF-overexpressing tumors when conjugated to fluorescent markers such as Alexa Fluor 647.
