Drug intelligence / Profile preview
188Re-rhenium resin (commercially known as Rhenium-SCT) is a non-invasive, unsealed therapeutic radiopharmaceutical developed by OncoBeta for the treatment of non-melanoma skin cancers (NMSCs). It consists of the high-energy beta-emitting radioisotope rhenium-188 (188Re) in the form of insoluble dirhenium-heptasulfide microparticles embedded in a synthetic acrylic resin matrix. The radioactive paste is applied topically over a protective barrier foil directly onto the lesion, delivering localized, high-dose beta radiation that penetrates up to 2–3 mm into the skin. This targeted radiation destroys cancer cells while sparing deeper healthy tissues.
